Shared management agreements are instruments for civil participation in the sustainable management of protected areas and seek to work with groups interested in supporting the conservation of natural and cultural heritage in a participatory manner.

The activities contemplated in the shared management agreement between the Ministry of the Environment (MiAmbiente) and Fundación Pro Eco Azuero include the following:

• Promotion

• Sustainable use, including maintenance of existing infrastructure in the protected area.

• Resource protection activities (biodiversity protection, citizen science monitoring, support for scientific research, environmental education).
